God won't give me anything I can't handle

Kindred Creations has yet another great new digital kit coming out today, the Chocolate Sky paper pack.

Some friends have been going through a rough patch lately so I decided to make a card for them.  I love this quote by Mother Teresa and printed it out using the font Kaufmann BT along with the digital papers.  I rotated the striped paper 45 degrees before cropping it to size.  I cut out the quote along with the two patterned papers.  I matted the larger paper with dark brown card stock just smaller than my card base. I then cut a piece of white card stock and edged it with the Martha Stewart Deco Flowers PATP punch, then cut the second patterned paper to fit just inside the edge of the flowers to create a thin border and edged the patterned paper with a Prismacolor marker.  I matted the quote with some coordinating DCWV card stock and adhered all the layers together, adding a layer of foam adhesive under the white decorative border.  I then used the Martha Stewart twig punch as well as the Nellie Snellen Leafy Branch punch to create foliage from the white and DCWV card stock.  I coloured the white twig punchies with the Prismacolor marker and layered them onto the two corners of the striped paper and added a number of Prima flowers which I centered with pearls.

Computer Guy Birthday card

I have to say Mo Manning has some incredible images for young boys, which are sometimes a little hard to find... and digi is so easy to buy in a pinch and work with that same day! Love that! I needed yet another birthday card for a young boy and this image suited him well.

I started by printing the Mo Manning digital image onto X-Press It card stock and colouring it with Lyra artist and Sansodor.  I then printed out some DCWV 300DPI digital papers.  I stitched them together with a card stock mat and layered them together.  I double matted the image.  I added three diamond eyelets onto the green paper and added some Liquid Pearls to the center of each eyelet.  I also added a photo turn to the top of the matted image.  I then adhhered the layers onto the white card base adding the image with foam adhesive.  Lastly I stamped a Whimsy stamped sentiment onto the yellow card stock with navy ink and added it to the top right hand corner of the image with more foam adhesive.

Baby Girl Baptism

I used another Mo Manning digital image and the coordinating Kindred Creations Cutie Pie Farm kit to match the Baby Boy Baptism card.

I started by printing the image onto X-Press it card stock and colouring it with Lyra artist pencils and Sansodor. I went over the lace of the dress with a Sakura Stardust glitter pen to add a little girly sparkle.  I printed the papers from the Kindred Creations Cutie Pie Farm kit.  I layered the pink striped paper over my card base then added a strip of the green dotted paper which I wrapped with  a piece of ribbon tied in a bow.  I then used the Martha Stewart Deco Flowers PATP on the brown dotted paper and lined the inside with the floral paper.  I adhered it to the card using foam adhesive and slipped the ribbon bow through the brown card stock.  I then also added the image which I cut out in a circle using foam adhesive.  I added some Prima flowers with Pearl and pearl stamen centers to the top right hand corner.  I punched and cut various leaves from the green dotted paper to finish off the floral arrangement.

Baby Boy Baptism card

For this card I used a Mo Manning digital image as well as the Kindred Creations Sweetie Pie Farm digital kit.

I printed the image onto X-Press It card stock, coloured it with Lyra artist pencils and Sansodor.  I printed the papers from the Kindred Creations Sweetie Pie Farm kit as well as the a few star embellishments.  I layered the blue striped paper over my card base then added a strip of the green dotted paper which I wrapped with  a piece of knotted ribbon.  I then used the Martha Stewart Deco Flowers PATP on the brown dotted paper and lined the inside with the star paper.  I adhered it to the card using foam adhesive and slipped the ribbon knot through the brown card stock.  I then also added the image which I cut out in a circle using foam adhesive.  I added some swirls cut with a Marianne Designs die and the the stars from the kit to the top right hand corner.  The stars were adhered using some more foam adhesive.

Shower card

This was a super quick card I made.  Seriously I didn't get home from my shopping trip which included buying the shower gift until 7 pm and the shower was scheduled at 7:30.  I hadn't eaten (managed to grab a banana) and needed to change... I did arrive just a few minutes late but I think I still did great.

I quickly printed out the verse in purple onto cream card stock (which I'd had the fore site to find ahead of time).  While browsing through her registry I got the impression she liked purple, hence the purple colour.  I cut it using a Marianne Design die.  I took a cream KaiserCraft card base and lined it with the purple card stock.  I then adhered the verse.  I added some Prima flowers, added pearls to the centre punched some leaves from green card stock using a Nellie Snellen punch. Super quick and appreciated since I knew the brides mom was an avid scrapper, and it turns out so is the bride.

Birthday Hockey Card

I created this card for a boy who just loves to play hockey. In the fall I had the opportunity to watch him play and taken some pictures, so I was able to go back and find out his team colours. So I used his team colours for this card.

I started by printing out the Mo Manning Hockey Boy image.  I coloured it with Lyra artist pencils and Sansodor, and matted it with an amber card stock.  I then printed some patterned paper from the Kindred Creations Black and White digital paper kit available in the store now.  I started with a square base and layered it with a slightly smaller layer of the stripes 2 paper.  I then took a piece of the herringbone paper and matted it in the amber card stock and stitched them together.  I then took a piece of the spots 2 paper the width of the card and matted it with the amber card stock and used a zig zag stitch along the top and the bottom.  I took a piece of yellow mesh and wrapped it around the card a third of the way up the layer, along with a piece of twine which was threaded through a black button and tied in a bow.  I then adhered the image over that with foam adhesive.  Lastly I embossed a Whimsy Stamps Party Mini Letter Seals stamp along with a Just Rite border stamp onto the Herringbone patterned paper and adhered it with some more foam adhesive.

Christmas Welcome

Over the holidays I took the time to work on a canvas for my entryway.  I painted the whole thing using stencils cut with my Silhouette.  I like the way it turned out, and I have plans to do at least one more for the rest of the year.  Maybe over time I will add other ones for other seasons of the year.

I ended up having to take the picture with a flash to show the colours of the wall and the canvas.  The entryway is north facing and we've had some dreary days so it's difficult to get a great picture.  I may update this when I have the opportunity to get a better, less flashy picture.

Merry Christmas

I would like to wish you all the blessing of Christmas, and I hope you have the good fortune of spending time with those you love this holiday season. We have all our family gatherings on other days so today we will be spending the day with friends and all the lovely people at our local soup kitchen.

I created this frame using a wonderful piece of word art I found as well as the Classic Christmas digital paper pack from Kindred Creations.

Scarf

I came across a lovely scarf on this blog and I decided I would try and make myself one, and while I was at it I could whip one up for my niece for Christmas as well to go along with the gift card I got her.

I only used a single layer of fabric because I felt it would be quite thick and only suitable as a winter scarf and I thought the flower detail was too pretty to hide under a coat.  I rounded the ends of the 8" wide fabric before ruffling it.  I added 13 flowers (only because that's what I could get out of the remaining fabric).  I hand sewed the flowers and added 3 silver seed beads to the centre.  I then sewed them to the scarf making sure to keep the stitches at the back of the scarf neat and tidy, and starting and finishing my work on the back of the flower. Frankly I'll admit I was lazy and tried washable fabric glue and when I hand washed it 4 flowers fell off, but I also noticed that the flowers looked crappy after coming out of the wash.  Although I had already noticed that they looked a little limp and the tops were falling down when I lifted the scarf up.  To remedy that I took some no-sew seam tape to attach the flowers to the scarf further.  The flowers right now look a little flat from ironing on bits of seam tape, but they should puff back up a little.  I only attached them in two or three places.

Retro Christmas Tree

I have a new card to share with you.  Kindred Creations Scrapbooking has two new digital kits out today, Retro Red Christmas Tree and Retro Green Christmas Tree.  These packs are wonderful for the digi scrapper, but also those who don't mind printing out their own paper, which I did.  I also used the Ornate Merry Christmas Title which I changed to a green colour (although the greens appear quite black in the photograph).  I cut the image out using a Spellbinders Labels 17.  I layered the Red Tree Top paper over white and dark green card stock and stitched them together.  I also took a strip of Green Retro Trees paper and stitched it across the lower half of the card front.  I then added the image using foam adhesive and finished it off with some Kaisercraft clear jewels in the top right hand corner.

Shaker Easel card

I started by creating an easel card base from white card stock.  I layered the front and inside with blue card stock and patterned paper from a Pebbles Inc. Snow Fun 4x6 pad, which were stitched together with a sewing machine.  I printed the window image on brown card stock and the winter tree on white.  I cut out the window image and coloured the winter tree image using Lyra artist pencils adding in some fluffy white clouds.  I added some acetate to the window panes, then a double layer of foam adhesive around the window frame.  I added a little bit of decorative sand in the middle before adhering the winter tree image to the back.  I also added a little bit of glitter to the the corners of some of the window panes fro a frosty effect.   I then adhered this to a decorative mat I cut using a Spellbinders Labels 17 and Pebbles Inc. paper and adhered it to the top of the easel card.  I then cut some decorative elements from blue card stock and the Spellbinders Parisian Accents dies.  I added a few jewels to the to the top.  I then printed out the gift tag in dark blue, attached it with some blue embroidery floss tied in a bow and added some little silver bells, and a snowflake made from two die cuts, and some glitter.
For the inside I printed the let it snow sentiment in light blue and matted it in light blue.  I then placed it on top of a dark blue card stock pendant with a narrower light blue version just underneath using foam adhesive.  I centered this on the inside and used it to keep the easel propped up.  Lastly I added a few jewels along the top of the dark blue pendant.

Let it Snow

I love this advent colour combo for Christmas cards.  I started with a 8 1/2x4 1/4" white card base.  I added glitter to the edge of the card front.  I then took a scrap piece of card stock and wrapped it in metallic blue gift wrap and adhered it onto the card front. I added a strip of purple glitter card stock, and purple and clear jewel border.  I printed the let it snow digi image 3 times in a blue colour, went over it with a glue pen and blue glitter.  I added them to the front of the card using foam adhesive.  I kept it clean and simple with all that bling going on because I felt it would have been a little over the top if I had a lot of detail and layers along with the the eye catching bling factor.

Woodland Trees

I chose to keep this card clean and simple.  I started with a white card base and rounded the edges.  I added another layer of red card stock which I covered with two patterned paper which I stitched together before adhering to the base.  I printed out the digital stamp and coloured it with Lyra artist pencils and Sansodor.  I added glitter to the snow on the ground and punched some circles from red metallic card stock to cover the ornaments on the tree.  I matted this with more red card stock, stitched around it and adhered it  to the patterned paper using foam adhesive.  I wrapped these layers with string that I glittered using white paint as my 'glue'.  I added a button to the string and tied the ends in a bow.  Next I cut decorative corner from metallic red card stock using a Spellbinders Parisian Accents die which I adhered under the image in the top left hand corner.  I printed out the Happy Holidays Sentiment and cut it out using a Spellbinders Labels 17 die and cut it in half inked the edges green and added some metallic card stock circles before  tucking it under the image.

Vintage Postcard

I started by printing out some Kindred Creations digital papers Rainbow stripes and Damask.  I distressed them and layered them and sewed them together.  I printed out the postcard in green, stamp in red and Birdies Housework.  I matted the postcard with red card stock and stitched the layers together.  I added the coloured birdy tot he top left hand corner and the postage stamp ion the top right hand corner using foam adhesive.  I then wrapped the base with gold ribbon then mounted the postcard slightly angled on top.  I then tied a bow using the bow easy from the same ribbon adhered it to the bottom left hand corner, added two red roses, two leaves and a bunch of die cuts cut using the Martha Stewart twig punch.  Lastly I added some gold liquid pearls along the bottom of the postcard.

Irish Blessing

I printed the sun cloud digi out several times on white and yellow card stock, as well as with the sentiment onto blue inked card stock.  I cut the clouds out twice and the sun once, and edged all the pieces including the stamped base with clear stickles before layering them with foam adhesive.  I layered the floral papers from Kindred Creations and stitched around them before adhering the digital images which was also stitched.  Lastly I finished off the card with a bow tied using the bow easy and a few Q&Co pearls. 

Fallen Leaves

I used the Kindred Creations Fallen Leaves digital papers.  I printed the digital stamp, coloured it with Lyra artist pencils and cut it out.  I layered five of the digital papers and stitched them onto white card stock.  I took a square white base and added a layer of stitched reddish brown card stock, the four digital papers on the white base, then added the last digital paper that was also stitched onto white card stock.  Lastly I added the leaf image with foam adhesive.

Tall Daisy

I started with a white base and layered it with green textured card stock and pink card stock that I ran through the Cuttlebug using the textile embossing folder.  I tried to do a little something more unique for my stitching.  I sewed the layers together with my sewing machine and placed white twine underneath the stitches.  I coloured the tall daisy using Lyra artist pencils and Sansodor, cut it out and mounted it in the card using foam adhesive.  Next I cut Label 4 from white and dark pink card stock, I stamped the Whimsy sentiment onto it and mounted it on the card using slightly thicker foam adhesive.  Lastly I added 2 pearls to the label to finish it off.

Guest Designing for One Crazy Stamper: Card #2

I'm back to show you another card I created for One Crazy Stamper.  I decided to create a masculine card this time around.

I started this card by choosing the Ai Original Ed Fronts-n-Backs stamp.  These Fronts-n-Backs stamps are amazing because they have matching stamps with a font and back view of the image, which is perfect for repeating on in the middle or back of the card.  I thought it would be perfect to use with a clear acetate front card this time around.  I started with a dark green Bazzill card base and cut a hole in the front larger than the largest Spellbinders Labels 18 die.  I matted a piece of paper from the Fancy Pants Beach Bum 6x6 pad with dark blue card stock and stitched it together using my sewing machine, and cut the center out using the largest Spellbinders Labels 18 die.  I lined the back with clear acetate and adhered it to the front of the base.  I stamped Ed onto X-Press it card stock using Tsukineko Memento tuxedo black ink and coloured it with Lyra artist pencils, which I then blended with Sansodor and blending stumps. I cut the images out and added the front of Ed to the front of the card on the acetate. I added a dark red button which I threaded with Sew Easy Fancy Floss tertiary twine before adhering to the bottom left hand side of the card front.  I took a piece of silver wire, shaped it into a fishing hook, wrapped three little chicken feathers onto it with sewing thread, to make it look like a fly fishing hook.  I hooked it onto the mats and adhered fishing line to it which I then wrapped around the button and brought back to the right hand side of the card.  I stamped the Whimsy Party Mini Letter Seals stamp onto the front top right hand side of the card in Versamark and embossed it in white embossing powder.

 I then went to the inside of the card.  I line the right hand side with with dark red card stock and paper from the Fancy Pants Beach Bum pad, stitched around the layers again.  I stamped two Whimsy Treasured Moments tickets onto Beach Bum patterned paper using Adirondack and CTMH ink, cut them out using the Whimsy ticket die and stapled them to the bottom left hand side and adhered it all to the base. I took another Whimsy Party Mini Letter Seals stamp and stamped it onto the top right hand corner of the card using CTMH olive ink.  I lined the other side with orange card stock and more Beach Bum patterned paper, which I also stitched together, and cut the center out with the Spellbinders Labels 18 die.  I added a piece of Tim Holtz film strip using a screw brad to the top left hand side.  I carefully layered it onto the card lining the die cut up exactly with the die cut on the front of the card.  I then glued the back of Ed to line up perfectly with the front of Ed on the acetate.  I then wrapped the fishing line around to the inside of card and adhered it under the right hand side of the mats.

X's and O's

I started this card with a light green card base and layered a wine red card stock over top which I then stitched together.  I printed out the tic tac frame and sewed along the lines separating the squares with a straight stitch.  I then went along those stitches with black embroidery floss.  Next I hand drew a line outside of the frame and cut along the outside as well as the small inner squares.  I ran this through the Cuttlebug with the Kassie's Brocade embossing folder.  I mounted it on the base using foam adhesive.  I then printed out the O's on the same light green as the base and the X's in a slightly darker green, and mounted them on the base using a thicker layer of foam adhesive.  On all the hearts of the X's and O's I added some Prima flowers and a heart shaped jewel.  I cut a tab from a Spellbinders Label 8 die from black card stock and cut it in half.  I stamped the CTMH 'with love' sentiment with Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I then placed it under the frame on the left hand side of the card.

Guest Designing for One Crazy Stamper

I have the privilege this month to design for One Crazy Stamper, an amazing online store with an amazing assortment of current stamps and card making products as well as copics and their prices are great to boot!  They are also opening a brick and mortar store in Bolton Ontario this month!

This month at One Crazy Stamper they are hosting a sketch challenge.  You have until the end of the month participate in the challenge and have a chance of winning a prize pack from Your Next Stamp.  Create it a card using this sketch and link it to the One Crazy Stamper blog.

For my card I rotated the sketch so that the embellishments would be on the left hand side of the card (though I did keep the sentiment right where it was).

I took the Stampavie, Cherie with her best friend Blondie stamp, and stamped it onto X-Press It card stock using Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo black ink.  I then coloured it in using my Lyra artist pencils, and blended using Sansodor and paper blending stumps.  I added some finishing touches with gel pens, like her belt buckle, jewelry, and scarf,  Blondie's bow, and added some golden brown highlights to her hair.  I cut out the image.  I started with a green sheet of Bazzill card stock for my base and layered it with Prima Annalee paper and DMC card stock, which I all machine stitched together.  I then cut a circle from some Prima Annalee paper and stitched the edges, then bordered it with die cuts using the smallest die in the Spellbinders Parisian Accents die set.  I used EK Success 3D foam dots to mount my image onto this and then added Kaisercraft pearls by the center of each diecut.  I then mounted all of this to the centre of the card using more foam adhesive.  I wrapped 7 Gypsies Savannah seam binding around the front of the card to the left of the image.  I took some more seam binding and using the bow easy, I tied a bow and added it on top of the seam binding about one third of the way up the card.  I then created a floral arrangement by the bow using Zva Creative flowers, Prima Flower of the Month May Lily flowers, stamens from the cake decorating department, unknown leaves, and the Martha Stewart twig punch.  Lastly I took some Whimsy friendship ticket and treasured moments ticket stamps and stamped them onto Prima Annalee paper using Adirondack and CTMH ink, and cut them out using the Whimsy ticket dies in my Cuttlebug.  I layered them and tucked them under the foam mounted circle in the bottom right hand corner of the card, and added another Prima May Lily flower and stamen, along with a punched twig leaf.
