Guest Designing for One Crazy Stamper

I have the privilege this month to design for One Crazy Stamper, an amazing online store with an amazing assortment of current stamps and card making products as well as copics and their prices are great to boot!  They are also opening a brick and mortar store in Bolton Ontario this month!

This month at One Crazy Stamper they are hosting a sketch challenge.  You have until the end of the month participate in the challenge and have a chance of winning a prize pack from Your Next Stamp.  Create it a card using this sketch and link it to the One Crazy Stamper blog.

For my card I rotated the sketch so that the embellishments would be on the left hand side of the card (though I did keep the sentiment right where it was).

I took the Stampavie, Cherie with her best friend Blondie stamp, and stamped it onto X-Press It card stock using Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo black ink.  I then coloured it in using my Lyra artist pencils, and blended using Sansodor and paper blending stumps.  I added some finishing touches with gel pens, like her belt buckle, jewelry, and scarf,  Blondie's bow, and added some golden brown highlights to her hair.  I cut out the image.  I started with a green sheet of Bazzill card stock for my base and layered it with Prima Annalee paper and DMC card stock, which I all machine stitched together.  I then cut a circle from some Prima Annalee paper and stitched the edges, then bordered it with die cuts using the smallest die in the Spellbinders Parisian Accents die set.  I used EK Success 3D foam dots to mount my image onto this and then added Kaisercraft pearls by the center of each diecut.  I then mounted all of this to the centre of the card using more foam adhesive.  I wrapped 7 Gypsies Savannah seam binding around the front of the card to the left of the image.  I took some more seam binding and using the bow easy, I tied a bow and added it on top of the seam binding about one third of the way up the card.  I then created a floral arrangement by the bow using Zva Creative flowers, Prima Flower of the Month May Lily flowers, stamens from the cake decorating department, unknown leaves, and the Martha Stewart twig punch.  Lastly I took some Whimsy friendship ticket and treasured moments ticket stamps and stamped them onto Prima Annalee paper using Adirondack and CTMH ink, and cut them out using the Whimsy ticket dies in my Cuttlebug.  I layered them and tucked them under the foam mounted circle in the bottom right hand corner of the card, and added another Prima May Lily flower and stamen, along with a punched twig leaf.

Jean-Luc playing ball with Claude

I created this card for another round of card tag, and was given this card by Rhonda to lift.  I was inspired by the scalloped ovals and the bow along the bottom of the card.  I stamped the Stampavie image Jean-Luc playing ball with Claude onto oval white card stock and coloured it using Lyra artist pencils and inked the edges green.  I matted it with a blue scalloped oval and I stitched the layers together.  I took the same blue card stock and created a blue card base.  I then took a K&Co Hopscotch Designer Mat Pad sheet, distressed the edges and sewed around it.  Then I took another strip of paper, distressed it and sewed around it and  layered it over top.  I wrapped crocheted trim and green ribbon around the two layers and adhered on the back, then tied a bow using the bow easy with the green ribbon and adhered it to the center.  I then used the Spellbinders in Spades dies to cut corner pieces from another sheet of patterned paper and adhered them under the corners of the scalloped oval mat.  I then mounted these layers onto the patterned paper using foam adhesive, just above the bow.  I adhered it all to the base and added 4 KaiserCraft pearls to the corners of the card.

Country Girl

My dear friend Susan saw this stamp and thought of me because she knows my love of Sarah Kay stamps and that we raise poultry. So last week I received it as a RAK in the mail from her and I just had to ink it up and try it out. I also finally got my hands on some Neenah card stock and just had to try that out as well! (I don't live close to any scrapbook stores so I don't get out that often.)

I stamped the Sarah Kay Country Girl image onto the Neenah card stock using StazOn. (That is another thing I really want to experiment with, as some may notice I am still pulling a little bit of the black ink into the image as I am colouring.)  I coloured the image using Lyra artist pencils and Gamsol.  I created a square card base.   I then used patterned paper from the Pink Paisley Sweetness collection.  I matted the long strip with card stock that I edged with the Martha Stewart doily border punch.  I stitched around each of the layers.   Next I wrapped the card front with yellow ribbon and added a bow I tied using the bow easy.  I mounted the matted image on the card using foam adhesive.  I added a butterfly with some jewels for it's body to the top left hand corner of the image.  On the other side of the card I added three flowers, a rose and two die cut flowers I shaped and added the large pearly stamens to.  I tucked some branches cut with the Martha Stewart twig punch under the flowers.  Lastly I added some jewels to the corners of the blue/brown mat.

Noel Charity

I created this card for another round of card tag.  I was asked to lift this card by Dawn.  I started off with the Stampavie Noel Charity Stamp that I coloured with Lyra pencils and gel pens.  I layered that with green card stock as well as white card stock edged with the  Fiskars lace border punch, stitching it all together with white thread.   Next I grabbed a white card base and cut a red and white mat slightly smaller.  I took two patterned papers from the My Mind's Eye Dear Santa 8x8 pad and added them over the white mat and stitched  the three layers together and adhered it to the base.  I then adhered the stamped image to the top right hand corner of the card.  I dressed it up by printing the holly, colouring it with the Lyra pencils and  stardust pen and adhered it to the top left hand side of the stamped image with foam adhesive.  Lastly I added three red Kaisercraft pearls to the holly for the berries.

Dearest Deer

I once again used the Stampavie Dearest Deer stamp.  I wasn't so sure about this colour combination.  I just didn't think it would 'pop' without the red bow and collar on the deer.  In the end I like this one even better than the last card using this stamp.  I coloured it using Lyra pencils and water colour crayons.  I added some Adirondack Cranberry Acrylics to the berries , Matte Accents to the leaves, and glitter along the snow. I used papers from the Pebbles Inc. Snow Fun 4x6 pad.  I matted the image on blue paper and stitched the two together with white thread.  I created an easel card base from white card stock.  I inked  a mat with Olive CTMH ink and added two patterned papers and stitched it to the mat.  I added a strip of Around the Block Frame Tape inked with blue Adirondack ink.  I then added the stamped image to the centre using foam adhesive.  I tied a bow from green satin ribbon using the bow easy.  I layered it with a pointsettia blossom and snowflake embellishment that I tied with kitchen string, and adhered it to the top left hand corner of the stamped image.  I added green KaiserCraft jewels below the stamped image.
I then added a layer of white card stock to the inside of the card to hold up the easel.  I layered it with a green inked mat and the snowflake patterned paper that were stitched together with white thread.  I then took another piece of white cardstock the width of the card and stamped the Inkadinkado Merry Christmas stamp from the Christmas Silhouettes set in lettuce Adirondack ink onto it, matted it with blue patterned paper, and stitched it together.  I layered it over the snowflake paper and added more green KaiserCraft jewels to the corners of the stamped sentiment.

Especially For You

I created this easel card for my sister in law who really enjoys my cards.   I started this card by creating a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" portrait orientation easel card base.  I edged the front and the inside with water colour crayons and lined them with white card stock.  I then took some patterned paper from the We R Memory Keepers White Out line, which cut, embossed and stitched the edges of. On the inside I only covered 2/3rds of the white card stock.  I then took a strip from the back of the same paper, embossed and stitched the edges of it as well and edged it with white card stock punched with the Martha Stewart Doily-lace edge

punch.  For the front of the card I stamped Stampavie Rosalie's Bicycle stamp which I  coloured with Rembrandt Polycolor Pencils and Sansodor.  I then embossed and stitched the edges, and matted to a scalloped base, and adhered with foam adhesive.  I dressed up the the bottom corner of the stamped image with a yellow flower and burgundy blossoms centered with a green rhinestone.  I then tucked in a few leaves punched with the Martha Stewart twig punch and some rhinestone flourishes.  For the inside I cut a circle, stamped it with the Art Warehouse Memories Interactive stamp and printed the sentiment on it, matted with a scalloped circle mat, and also adhered with foam adhesive.  I tied a yellow bow with the bow easy and adhered it beside the sentiment.
 

Reindeer card

This was another great rendition of card tag... we must be getting close to Christmas because even though we didn't start with a Christmas card, as we went along each of us created a Christmas card.  I was asked to lift this card by Merrilee.  I changed the sizes of things up a little bit but I kept the number of matts the same.  I also rotated it and used the brad for my sentiment, instead of the three tree brads and sentiment she had.  I also added ribbon which she did not use on her card.  I started by creating a card base and then inked the edges with Adirondack Cranberry ink (I love the velvety illusion this gives), I added a layer of Kaisercraft Winter Wonderland Let it Snow paper, and stitched the edges of it. Before adhering it I added a length of red ribbon and a bow to the right hand side of the card I then added the bluey grey paper that I edged with stardust glitter glue and glitter (yes I glittered the glitter) and tucked it under the bow.  I then stamped the Stampavie Dearest Deer stamp, coloured it with Rembrandt Polycolor pencils and Sansodor.  I added a little bit of glitter to the snow using a Sakura glue pen. I matted that with a mat I inked with the cranberry ink as well and stitched around the stamped image.  Using foam adhesive I mounted this on the center of the card under the ribbon.  Lastly  I added the Holiday Wishes brad on top of the bow.

Spirited Scrap: Joy Fold Card

Supply list:

5x7 ½” card stock sturdy
4x8 card stock sturdy
 3 ¾ x3 ¾ coordinating card stock or patterned paper (any weight)
4 ¾ x4 ¾ coordinating card stock or patterned paper (any weight)
3 ½ x 3 ½  card stock with digital image, stamped image, word art or verse (see suggestions at the bottom of this post)
       (or mount the cut out image on this card stock with dimensional adhesive for affect if you like)
(2) 3 ¾ x3 ¾ light coloured card stock (if you did not print a sentiment/poem on the
       previous piece you may choose to do so on one of these)
(2) 4 ¾ x 2 ¼ card stock or patterned paper (any weight)
5” decorative edge strip ie) using border paper punch, scallop edge, paper frills,
       bazzill edge strips, cut with a die cutting machine, deco scissors… the possibilities are endless
12”ribbon ½ to 1” wide not too thick (so it’s easier to work with)
photo turn with brad
glue of your choice
scoring tool, like a scor pal, or a boning knife, dry embossing stylus, a pen you’re
       absolutely sure is not going to release any ink, butter knife and a ruler and pencil
optional embellishments like ink, pearls, gems, glitter, sewing machine, rub on stitches,
       dimensional glues, flowers, button, metal to add your own touches
8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 12 plain copy paper, card stock, patterned paper for an envelope
envelope template printed ~the envelope template is exactly 11” so all of it will not print
       considering page margins, you will need to extend the lines to the length indicated
       on the template.  Also if you have some creased/stained or otherwise undesirable
       card stock it will make a sturdy reusable template.  Please print and cut out before the Spirited Scrap.

       make sure the distance between the two points as shown in this image is approximately 5 1/4".
       You may need to set your printer to do a borderless print.  It must be bigger than 5"

Optional 1 ½ x 4 piece of sturdy box board… this doesn’t need to look really pretty,
       go ahead and cut it with your kitchen scissors, then cut a 1/2 x 2" slit in the top (I actually cut it on the fold
       of a box so it would be double thickness); or a bow easy

Step 1)

1)      Mark the 5x7 ½” piece of cardstock at 5” (just a very small mark so it’s hardly visible later, on both sides).  Using your ruler and scoring tool score the cardstock at 5” and fold.

2)      Now take the 4x8” piece of cardstock and mark at 4”; score and fold this piece as well.

3)      Ink or distress the edges of the front and inside of your cardstock if desired (the 2 ½” piece will be the front of your card)

4)      Ink or distress the front edges of your remaining cardstock if desired.

Step 2)

1)      Take the 3 ¾ x 3 ¾” piece (the first one listed in the supplies) and adhere it onto the 4x4” card base.  Then take the 3 ½ x3 ½” stamped/embellished piece and adhere it onto the 4x4” base as well.

2)      Open up the 4x4 card base and take the two remaining 3 ¾ x3 ¾” pieces and adhere one to the top and one to the bottom.

Step 3)

1)      Open up the 5x5 cardstock base and adhere the 4 ¾ x 4 ¾” piece of paper to the inside.

2)      Adhere the decorative edge strip along the bottom of the card base (2 ½” side) on the inside of the card.

3)      Take the one of the 4 ¾ x 2 ¼” pieces and adhere it over/along the decorative edge strip.

Step 4)

1)      Open up the 5x5” base with the 2 ½” flap towards you and adhere the 4x4” card base with the fold away from you, to the center of the card.

Step 5)

1)      Open up the 4x4 card, fold the base of the 5x5 card up, and once again close the 4x4” card back up.  Temporarily place the remaining 4 ¾ x 2 ¼” piece of paper onto the half flap.

2)      Place the photo turn to the left of the 4x4 card and mark the hole.  Take the piece of paper out of the card again and fasten the photo turn on the mark.

3)      Adhere the piece to the card.

Step 6)

We are going to tie a bow in the ribbon.  If you have a bow easy and know how to use it go ahead J I’ll give the rest of you direction on how to tie a bow using your slotted boxboard.

1)      Take your slotted pieces of boxboard and lay your ribbon across the front with the length of the desired tail on the left side.  (If you’re a lefty you may want to reverse your left and rights throughout this process.)

2)      We’ll be working with the long length of ribbon on the right hand side.  Take the ribbon and run it along the back of the boxboard.

3)      Bring it back up along the front leaving some slack on the ribbon, and down along the top through the slot.

4)      Bring the ribbon back up through the slot below the ribbon.

5)      Pass your ribbon through the slack piece of ribbon from the top left to the bottom right as shown in the picture, then pull it away from you.

6)      Flip the boxboard over bottom to top. And pull ribbon down and tight.  You may have to adjust the knot a little as you tighten so it’s nicely centered and looks pretty.  If you have printed ribbon make sure the pattern faces the front.

7)      Pull the tail back down towards you and pull the bow off your boxboard.

8)      You may want to tighten adjust the bow a little more, and then trim the tails to the length and shape desired.

9)      Adhere the bow to the top right hand of your card.

WARNING: If you pull on the tails to undo your bow and try again you will end up with a knot in your ribbon; pull apart the knot instead.

 

Step 7)

1)      Take out your envelope paper and trace out your template.  If you are using an 8 ½ x12” piece of paper you could add another 1” to the flap closure of the envelope and then punch the same decorative edge you used on the card.
 2)      Score the fold lines of the envelope and fold the sides in.

3)      Add glue to the back flap.  Lining a ruler along the side flaps makes sure you don’t place glue where it will adhere to the front of the envelope

4)      Decorate the envelope, if you wish, using the patterned paper or stamps used on the card.

Step 8)

      Finish off your card with any details you like to make it your own.
